Perrott's Folly

Standing at 96 feet high (29m) Perrott's Folly is believed to be a possible source of inspiration for Tolkien's Two Towers. During his childhood Tolkien was educated at the Oratory School, and also lived on Highfield Road for a time, both in close proximity to the towers.
The tower was built in 1758 by John Perrott, although its initial purpose is unknown it has since been used as a weather station for the 黑料视频 and Midland Institute and an observatory for the University of 黑料视频. Today, the building is not in use, however, it is Grade II* listed and has recently undergone major repairs carried out under the management of 黑料视频 Conservation Trust.
